Just been going through my RSS feeds from google reader and saw one dated 02/03/09 discussing the digital age and the role of the internet. I have added to my iPod to listen to and will list a review after listening to it to, may be relevant to what we have been discussing in this course as to the various ideas as to whether the development of the internet has been a good thing/whether we are now too ruled by the internet or whether the internet is just another part of life.

It's pretty hard to ignore the internet, there is just way too much stuff going on that could be enriching you life. The big issues is is how do we filter out the stuff we have no interest in and find the gems. I think we have to accept it is part of our lives, just how big a part depends on how much time we have to give it. The more time invested the more opportunities to garner something that will enhance our existence.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good point.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to view the debates to this argument. I had a listen to the Counterpoint RSS feed and it basically was using the recent US election as a case study for the increased use of the internet and how Obama was able to maximise his exposure through using the latest technology. Interesting points made, but maybe only as an optional thing (ie if you are interested in the US election as a case study).
I agree with you in that there is a lot to be said for what the internet provides our lives, such as what it is doing right now, and as long as we actively try to ensure that we use the internet for good!
